Time is the critical resource in the IT sector. Especially for teams that regularly work on-site with customers, a central question arises: How can productivity be maintained at a consistently high level while on the move?
A current project by Rolfhartge shows how a modern business van based on the Mercedes-Benz V-Class (W447) solves exactly this challenge – as a fully-fledged mobile office for a four-person team of experts. From the outside, the vehicle remains deliberately inconspicuous and down-to-earth.
Working like in the office – just on the go
The focus of this office van is clearly on efficient, collaborative work. Four fully equipped workstations enable parallel workflows – regardless of whether it’s individual work, team meetings, or joint development.
A central feature:
All workstations are fully networked. Every user can flexibly access all monitors – a setup usually only found in modern conference rooms.
27-inch screens integrated into the side doors and an additional ceiling monitor create a work environment that leaves nothing to be desired compared to classic office solutions. This is complemented by whiteboards at the touch of a button and a spacious multi-function table for genuine collaboration.
Full connectivity in a compact space
The conversion follows a clear principle: maximum function in a minimal mobile space.
A decisive factor here is the stable, independent internet connection. The office van is designed so that the team can work independently of local networks – with reliable connectivity for video calls, data access, and cloud-based applications.
A well-thought-out lighting concept consisting of ceiling spots and rail lights also ensures optimal working conditions – regardless of the time of day or location. At the same time, the technology integrates discreetly into the overall appearance of the Mercedes-Benz V-Class.
The specially developed center console combines design and functionality. In addition to practical storage compartments, it offers, among other things, a refrigerated compartment for supplies on the go – a detail that quickly becomes indispensable in everyday life.
Flexibility, self-sufficiency, and data protection
Especially in the IT environment, data protection and concentration play a central role. That’s why special emphasis was placed on a quiet, shielded work environment.
An optional partition wall as well as additional sound and heat insulation can further optimize the work area and provide even more focus. Electrically switchable privacy glass is also possible to reliably protect sensitive data from prying eyes.
For additional independence, the vehicle can optionally be equipped with a photovoltaic system on the roof. This extends the concept to include a self-sufficient energy supply and allows working while stationary even without the engine running.
Comfort as a productivity factor
In addition to technology, comfort also plays a decisive role. High-quality materials such as Alcantara, a soft deep-pile carpet, and practical details like an integrated wardrobe create an atmosphere that supports concentrated work.
Especially during long trips, the difference becomes noticeable: the van is not just a means of transport, but a place where productive work is actually possible – and at the same time, it fits into any underground garage.
The business van as a new work platform
This project shows how modern work models can be consistently taken a step further. The Rolfhartge business van based on the Mercedes-Benz V-Class becomes a mobile infrastructure – flexibly usable for IT service providers, engineering firms, or project-based teams.
Instead of losing time while traveling, it is used productively.
And that is exactly where the real added value lies: work takes place where it is needed.
We are very proud of the result – but what do you think?
